Operations Manager Job Description

 

About Community LIFT & River City Capital Investment Corp.

Since 2011, Community LIFT (LIFT), a nonprofit economic and community development intermediary has been a catalyst for change, working to advance Memphis by enabling the revitalization of its distressed neighborhoods.  We attract national dollars and align them with local resources.  Together those investments are strategically distributed in the form of grants to community development corporations and grassroots leaders for maximum impact.  LIFT also operates an affiliate nonprofit, called River City Capital Investment Corp. (RCC), which serves as its economic development arm.  RCC is a community development financial institution certified by the Department of the Treasury and primarily makes loans to spur job creation, build wealth, better educational outcomes and increase quality affordable housing.   Community LIFT has established its leading values as integrity, diversity, equity and inclusion, collaboration, maximizing resources, and excellence.

 

TITLE:  Operations Manager                                  

REPORTS TO:  Community LIFT President & CEO

PRIMARY PURPOSE:  Manage day-to-day operations for Community LIFT and River City Capital

Overview:

The Operations Manager at Community LIFT and River City Capital manages the organization’s daily operations.  They will perform regular administrative functions, coordinate meetings with the Board of Directors and Board Committees, coordinate facilities and technology support services, and assist in administrative support for fiscally sponsored projects.

I. Responsibilities

A. General Administration

  • Manage the organization’s physical infrastructure and systems maintenance (phone system, computer system, janitorial services, supplies and inventory, etc.) and coordinate facilities and technology support services as needed
  • Manage vendor relationships
  • Support Finance Department in administrative aspects of the organization’s financial management
  • Assist with drafting correspondence and preparing presentations
  • Assist in the coordination of events
  • Coordinate meetings for LIFT and RCC Boards of Directors and Committees
  • Prepare documents and take minutes at meetings
  • Support HR provider with employee benefits programs
  • Assist in planning regular staff meetings and staff development activities
  • Maintain non-financial files
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail
  • Manage updates to LIFT and RCC websites, social media accounts, and newsletters
  • Manage interns and temporary workers, when appropriate
  • Answer phones and greet visitors
  • Provide other administrative support as needed

B. Community LIFT

  • Manage the calendar for LIFT President & CEO
  • Schedule meetings with President, staff, and partner organizations
  • Assist the Grants Director with the preparation of grant applications and reports and calendar any applicable deadlines
  • Coordinate individual giving campaigns, including Giving Tuesday, and manage all incoming donations
  • Maintain donor database and generate thank you notes regularly

C. River City Capital

  • Assist Portfolio Manager with general administrative support

D. Fiscal Sponsorship

  • Process new project applications and present to the Board for approval
  • Assist project managers with administrative setup
  • Coordinate regular check ins with project managers
  • Coordinate with project managers to manage incoming donations, maintain donor database, and generate thank you notes regularly

II. Required Qualifications

  • At least three years’ relevant operations management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience in business administration or related field
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Systems minded and detail oriented
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
  • Comfortable working with diverse groups
  • Dedication to the mission and vision of Community LIFT and River City Capital

Full time position.  Salary range is $40,000 – $55,000.
